24th March 2011 (Myall Coast Nota)
A small group of Baptist families began meeting at Tea Gardens Primary School almost 20 years ago. In that group was Len Roberts, with wife Sue and family.
The fellowship grew over the years and Len Roberts has continually been involved in reaching out to the community with the Good News of Jesus Christ and giving practical help to those who needed it.
On Sunday February 20, the calling of Len as pastor of Tea Gardens Baptist Church was confirmed in a ‘recognition service’. This service was the culmination of a process which began about 18 months ago when our church fellowship embarked on a visioning process to find God’s guidance as to how we should move forward. Following much discussion and prayer, we believed that the appointment of a pastor was a part of God’s plan for our continuing ministry here on the Myall Coast.
Recognising his pastoral skills and the leadership that Len has shown in the establishment and growth of our church to this point, Len was nominated and unanimously confirmed as our honorary pastor.
The large congregation also consisted of representatives from local and district churches. Rev. John Bridges, former superintendent of the Mid North Coast Baptist Association, led Len through the recognition and dedication Service. The congregation also promised to support him in this calling to serve God.
At the completion of the service a delicious luncheon was held.
